Are Our Dreams Really Worth Pursuing?

In one of my previous blog posts, We Are The Crazy Ones, I talked about going after our dreams, and I want to expand on that a little.

You might remember I asked this question –

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

Your immediate response to that question will tell you exactly what your heart truly wants.

For me, I want to travel and write and connect with women and share this incredible journey of Self-AWESOMIZATION. I want to spread love and light in places of darkness, and when my time comes, I want to leave this world a little better off because I lived.

That dream takes the form of my GritChicks Retreats, my books, my blog, my everyday choices, the example I set for my children and my friendships with you guys.

But I also know this -

Just like everything else in life, our dreams change.

Fifteen years ago, my biggest dream was to be able to stay home to raise my boys. That was what my heart wanted more than anything. So, with my husband’s support, we re-prioritized (aka went broke) but we made it happen! I was able to complete and publish my first novel during that time, so they were some jam-packed years for sure, but I wouldn’t trade a moment.

And now that my boys have their own lives, my heart has the space to focus back on my ultimate dream, the dream that drove me to write And Then She Flew in the first place.

Here’s my point –

Dreams change.

And not all dreams involve huge financial payouts or glaring spotlights.

Some dreams involve simply lying next to our children at night reading and re-reading the same book over and over and over...

Some dreams involve world travel, and some dreams involve simply being at home in our own skin.

That’s the cool thing about our dreams – They’re OUR dreams.

They don’t have to be fancy or complicated (or trendy or exquisite.)

Our dreams just have to be OURS, not what someone else thinks they “should” be.

Your dream might be big, small, wild or tame… but as long as it's YOUR dream, it’s worth pursuing.

And YOU are worth that dream.

YOU are worth the time and love you will invest in making it happen.

YOU are worth the joy and satisfaction you will feel when you see your hard work pay off.

YOU are worth everything your heart wants out of this life.

So, my friend,

What would YOU do if you knew you could not fail?

Don’t think, just answer.

Now, let’s get out there and make it happen.

Xx Jen
